Fifth Sunday of Easter

Welcome to Worship:

P: In baptism we died with Christ so that as Christ was raised from the dead we too might walk in newness of life. Let us receive new life in him as we confess both our sins and our faith.

C: Jesus Christ, our risen Savior and triumphant Lord, we come to you in sorrow for our sins and confess to you our weakness and unbelief. We have lived by our own strength and not by the power of your resurrection. We have lived by the light of our own eyes, as faithless and not believing. We have lived for this world alone and doubted the scope of your reign. In all our brokenness we turn to you. In your mercy, forgive us and make us clean.

P: May the God of love and power forgive you and free you, heal and strengthen you by the Spirit, and raise you to new life in Christ our Lord.

C: Amen.

Sermon hymn ELW #816 Come, My Way, My Truth, My Life

Prayers of the People, Prayer for Women, Blessing of the Women:

P: O God, your Son remained with his disciples after his resurrection, teaching them to love all people as neighbors. As his disciples in this age, we offer our prayers on behalf of the universe in which we are privileged to live and our neighbors with whom we share it.

P: Risen Christ, you prepare a place for us, in the home of the Parenting God of us all. Draw us more deeply into yourself, through scripture read, water splashed, bread broken, wine poured, so that when our hearts are troubled, we will know you more completely as the way, the truth, and the life. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

P: Build up our homes: Where the anxious may find peace; the sad y find comfort; the hungry may find food; the weary may find rest. Bless all parents and make all dwellings places of harmony and safety. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

P: Build up our children: In a world in the midst of disease, heal the sick, strengthen those who provide care, grant wisdom to those who seek answers and cures, walk with those who have no employment, build up home in us all for better days to come. Come quickly to those in our congregation who face illness, isolation and anxiety. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

P: Build us our nation, loving Lord: Bless those entrusted with the care of our society's fabric. Direct leaders into wisdom, cooperation, and compassion for all citizens. Guide them in their decision making. Cure our divisions so that all people may prosper. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

P: Open our hearts to your power moving around us and between us and within us, until your glory is revealed in our love of both friend and enemy, in the communities transformed by justice and compassion, and in the healing of all that is broken. Amen.

Special Music: The Prayer - David Holzemer

Offering and Communion:

P: The Lord by with you.

C: And also with you.

P: Lift up your hearts.

C: We lift them to the Lord.

P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

C: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

P: Be present Lord Jesus Christ, our risen high priest; make yourself known to us in the breaking of bread. With all the angels and archangels, with the disciples and all the witnesses of the resurrection, we raise our voices in praise of your glory.

The Lord's Prayer:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdome, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Hymn: Faith of Our Mothers
